Martha Muth's Obituary
Martha Wattam Payonk Muth passed away peacefully on January 23, 2016, after a long illness. Martha was born on April 28, 1926, the only child of Rose and William F. (Bill) Wattam. She was a lifelong Memphian and graduated from St. Agnes Academy. She is predeceased by her parents and her first husband John Payonk. Martha is survived by her husband of forty five years Phil Muth with whom she shared numerous travel adventures as well as Mississippi riverfront and Florida beachfront condos. She was a member of the Racquet Club of Memphis and played tennis until eighty. She also leaves her son Dr. John William (Billy) Payonk (Brenda) and her two daughters Hollye Spiotta (Dr. Larry) and Wendy Brooks (Craig) of Nashville; five grandchildren Erin Spiotta Egan (Brian) of Denver, Kimen Spiotta Brinkley (Josh) of St. Louis, Lauren Spiotta Cannon (Dr. Tyler), Phillip Brooks (Sydney) of Brooklyn, Clare Brooks of Nashville; and eight great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 30, 2016, at 10:30am at the Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Collierville followed by a reception at the church. A private internment will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Catholic Church of the Incarnation or a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery….”Celebrating Life…..Behind the Stone Wall”.
