Martha Ann McKee's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that the McKee Family announces the passing of Martha Ann Osterloh McKee (better known as MawMaw) on March 3, 2024, at the age of 98. She was born November 8, 1925, and is the daughter of the late Lois and August Osterloh and the sister of the late Gilford Osterloh. She grew up in Memphis and went to Snowden Elementary and graduated from Central High School. During WWII Martha Ann worked as a secretary in transportation at the US Air Force Dept. As fate would have it, she met the love of her life on a blind date and married Lt. John Evans McKee on June 3, 1947. They lived in Nashville while he attended Vanderbilt Law School, moving back to Memphis after he received his Law Degree. Martha Ann and John had two children, the late Kay McKee, and a son, John Evans McKee III (Billie).
Martha Ann was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church, member of The English-Speaking Union, The Duration Club, Laurelwood Garden Club, and The University Club. She never met a stranger and was blessed with the gift of gab; she was a talker. She loved her friends, neighbors, and family tremendously. Laurelwood neighborhood will never be the same without her. She was the last of the original homeowners.
Along with her son, she leaves granddaughters Stacie Denton, Taylor Waring (Jeff), and Evans McKee. Two great grandchildren Will Denton and Wallace Waring. We love you MawMaw and look forward to when we all meet again! Rev. 22:12-13, John 3:16.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 11 am-1 pm, with services to follow in the Chapel at Second Presbyterian Church 4055 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38111. Parking in the West Lot.
