Martha Linder's Obituary
Martha Hanlon Linder, 76, of Germantown, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital on October 15, 2010. Marty was born October 17, 1933 in Wilkinsburg, PA to Robert and Dorthea Hanlon, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her older brother Reed Hanlon. Her younger brother Robert Hanlon, Jr. (Gloria) lives in Southaven, MS; three half brothers, Eugene Hanlon of Boston, MA, Raymond Hanlon of Pittsburg, PA, and Barry Hanlon of Dallas, TX. Marty had a turbulent childhood and was placed with her grandmother who raised her during her advanced years in school and through two years at Grove City College in PA. From college to Washington D.C. in the late 1950’s her first employment was with American Airlines as a reservation agent, having the opportunity to service many federal government representatives. It was here at AA she met her first husband Dan Kidney, Jr. and from this marriage there was born Dan III (Yvonne), Karen Moix (Mark), Catherine Poirier (Gary), and six grandchildren, Faye, Meg, Hayden, Chloe, Dan IV, and Mary. After raising her children, Marty was associated with a travel agency that enabled to organize group travel and see the world. In 1985 Marty married Richard Linder, who survives along with his sons, Richard Jr. (Judy), Wesley, and Scott (Amy). In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Marty was employed with Haverty’s Furniture, managing three different location in the Memphis area. Marty died of lung cancer. Support should be given to this awful disease along with breast cancer victims. Marty loved her church Emmanuel United Methodist, and much joy and love from the adult bible class. The visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, October 18, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will have a private graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
