Martha Landrum Holt's Obituary
Martha Landrum Holt, age 91, entered into the presence of her Savior on May 31, 2026.
Born in Florence, Alabama on March 23, 1935, Martha was the daughter of Alvin and Mae Landrum. She grew up in a large family with seven siblings: H.W., Donald, Ray, Larry, Leon, and Wanda Burks, all of whom preceded her in death, and her surviving sister, Barbara Johnson of Memphis.
Martha was married to the love of her life, Ray Holt, for 52 wonderful years until his passing. Together they built a family grounded in faith, love, and devotion. She is survived by her children: Janet Hall (Charles), Randall Holt (Sheila), and David Holt. She was a proud grandmother to Brandon Holt, Chad Hall (Madeleine), Joshua Hall (Brittni), Alexis Terrell (Baylor), Amanda Hollenkamp (Isaiah), Sylvia Rae Holt, and Savanna Holt.
She was also a deeply loved great-grandmother to Norah Caroline Hall (8), Ernest William Hall (7), Emerson Ruth Hall (5), Nolan Grace Hall (2), and Briggs Christian Terrell (4 months), who brought her tremendous joy.
A lifelong learner and educator, Martha graduated from Savannah High School and earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Memphis State College. She devoted 16 years to education as a teacher, Supervisor of Adult Education, and curriculum writer.
For the past 26 years, Martha was a faithful member of Germantown Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord shaped every part of her life. She was deeply involved in missions work and participated in several mission trips over the years. She faithfully served through the Clothes Closet ministry, the Lord’s Supper Committee, and Women on Mission groups. For many years, she lovingly delivered flowers to shut-ins, quietly ministering to others with kindness and compassion.
Martha loved her family, her friends, her church, and her country. She desired to be faithful in everything she did and gave all glory to God. She often said that only by His grace was she able to serve Him and be so richly blessed throughout her life.
She also had a remarkable love for travel and adventure. Martha was privileged to visit 102 countries and enjoy 54 cruises throughout her lifetime. She especially loved photography and capturing the beauty of God’s creation around the world.
Her favorite Scriptures reflected the faith that carried her throughout her life:
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21
And now, having finished her earthly journey, these words beautifully describe her life: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” — II Timothy 4:7
Martha’s greatest hope was to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, and she longed for all of her family and friends to know Him as well.
Her family rejoices knowing she is now fully healed and at peace in the presence of Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Martha’s favorite charities: Samaritan’s Purse, Gideons International, or Germantown Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Germantown Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:15 a.m. Entombment at Memorial Park Funeral Home will follow.
