Martha Holmes Edwards' Obituary
Martha Holmes Edwards of Bartlett,Tennessee was born on August 17, 1943 in Oxford, Mississippi. Martha went home to be with the Lord on May, 16, 2010. Martha’s most prized accomplishments were those of Wife, Mother, and “Biggie”. She leaves her husband of 49 1/2 years, Virgil Mercer Edwards, Sr. She leaves three children, son, Virgil Mercer Edwards, Jr. (Martha Kelsey Edwards, deceased) of Collierville, daughter, Judy Lynne Edwards Paine (Gene) and granddaughters, Malorie Brooke, Carlie Elizabeth, Hallie Paige, Lexie Caroline of Bartlett, and son, Jeffrey Holmes Edwards (Timmye) and granddaughter, Madison Cheyenne and twin grandsons, Alexander Jeffrey and Zachary Holmes of Hernando, Mississippi. Martha also leaves one brother, Winford Laver Holmes, Jr. of Memphis She is preceded in death by her parents, Winford Laver Holmes, Sr. and Mabel Pratt Holmes. Martha has lived with Ocular Melanoma since January 2002. She never felt she was dying with cancer but living with cancer. Martha was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church and member of the Bartlett High School Class of 1961. This was a road God chose for her to walk and she was determined. Martha will be deeply missed by many friends and family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20 from 6 to 8:30pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21 at 1pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome. In lieu of flowers a charitable contribution can be made to Bartlett Hills Mother’s Day Out or a charity of choice.
