Martha Sue Brown King's Obituary
Martha Sue (Brown) King, born November 24, 1922 passed away November 3, 2011. She was the widow of Willis M. King, Sr, a native Memphian, graduate of Humes High School Class of 1941. During the war years she was a telephone operator at St. Joseph Hospital and later worked at First National Bank (Memphis) in the corresponding banks department. After a break to raise her children, Martha Sue returned to school to become an LPN. She worked at Methodist Central (University) Hospital for 18 years retiring in 1985. In her retirement years Martha Sue devoted herself to her family and her church Memphis First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Matt King Jr.; daughter, Martha Dell King; her grandsons, Matt King III and Jason M. King; 1 great grandson, Thomas King all of Memphis; daughter, Faye King Lohman of Gallatin, TN. Martha Sue will always be remembered for her smile and grace. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, November 4 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 5 at First United Methodist Church in the Pepper Building downtown Memphis with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
