Mark F. McCarty's Obituary
Mark F. McCarty, Field Supervisor for EFCO, died January 19, 2022 in Memphis, TN. Mark was a native of Omaha, Nebraska, son of Dan and Marla McCarty. Mark is survived by his loving mother, Marla McCarty, brother Doug McCarty, love of his life of ten years, Melanee Fleenor, nephew Wyatt McCarty, stepson Trevor Erb, step daughter Addie Erb and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Dan McCarty.
Mark graduated from Omaha Burke High School and was a graduate of Iowa State University where he earned his degree in Engineering and was a member of TKE fraternity.
Mark was active in the Boy Scouts of America with his father most of his young life in Troop 558 of Omaha, Nebraska and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served as Assistant Scoutmaster in Fayetteville, Arkansas where his stepson Trevor attended.
Mark was passionate about many things and was a curious seeker of knowledge. He was an avid reader and loved the water. It was at Greers Ferry Lake that Mark met his beloved Melanee Fleenor. He later moved to Memphis to be with Melanee and started work with EFCO, a job in which he loved dearly and would stay at until retirement.
Mark's spare time was spent entertaining friends and family at the cabin on Pickwick Lake. He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed building many things for himself as well as for others. One of his proudest projects was his amazing tree house that he built and furnished with a full size bed and electricity.
Mark gave freely of his time, endless talents and friendship to always help others. He cherished his time on the water with friends and family from the canals of France, to Greers Ferry and Pickwick Lake.
Mark is remembered for his love of life, adventure and friendships. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Mark would undoubtedly say being with him was “the time of my life!” Mark made an impact on the lives of everyone around him and will be deeply missed by his friends, family and colleagues.
Service arrangements will be on Thursday, January 27th at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. and burial right after.
