Mark Anthony Ferlanie's Obituary
With solemn hearts, the family of Mark Anthony Ferlanie of Cordova, TN announce his departure from this earthly world on February 26, 2026 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to share their condolences on this memorial page to share with family and friends.
As Mark is released into the embrace of eternity, his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of all he loved. As his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Mark’s spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
Mark was an artist, musician, and creative writer with a keen imagination. He was a woodworker and outdoorsman who loved all of nature. A voracious reader with intelligence and a memory second to none, you could sit, speak and laugh with him for hours on end and never be bored. His favorite art mediums were watercolor paintings along with pen and ink drawings. What Mark could make come out of the end of a pen or paint brush was simply amazing. Leonard da Vinci and Micelangelo held a special place in his heart. He loved Flamenco music and his Contreras guitar. The seed for his love of the piano came from his mother.
Mark loved the western U.S. having lived a significant part of his life there. As a youth he camped the Grand Canyon, once on his own for two weeks, befriending a king snake along the way.
Mark’s love for fishing, both fresh and salt water, was made special by his trips with his brother, Keith, and the Mr. Trout contests they had. Mark was able to also experience the joy of fishing with his daughter, Tara, making beautiful memories from the time she was a little girl through a recent Florida trip “to the gulf” with her and her family.
During his school years, Mark was a competitive swimmer and gymnast. Another love of his was motorcycles. He had many stories to share about the adventures he had with his friends in Bloomsbury, NJ. After high school, Mark attended Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, owned a graphic arts business (Mark Anthony Graphics) and later sold engineering, graphic art supplies and film to major corporations in the greater Los Angeles market.
Mark was predeceased by his mother and father, William and Sarah (Vroman) Ferlanie; his brothers and sister, William (Keith), Bradley and Emily (Sampson). He is survived by his daughter, Tara Michelle Ferlanie-Neeld (James “Quinten”), his granddaughter, Naomi Joy Neeld, and former spouse and life-long friend, Jean Lindaberry-Ferlanie. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private service presenting Mark to the Lord will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, Cordova at a future date. Cremation services are being provided by Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Memphis. His ashes will be scattered at some of his favorite places including the Grand Canyon, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico (America), Otter Creek (Antimony, UT) and the Musconetcong River (Bloomsbury, NJ).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Where Memphis comes to remember, since 1924.”
