Marion Elois Laycook's Obituary
Marion Elois Laycook of Memphis, TN, stepped into Heaven on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from Baptist Reynolds Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 1PM and a Grave Side Service to follow. All services will be held on Friday, February 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN.
She was born on February 12, 1933, in Lawton County, TN to Tommy and Lora Roten. She went to school at Selmer High School in Selmer, TN. She worked for Sears Crosstown in Memphis, TN until she was introduced to and married her husband of 57 years, John Albert “John A” Laycook, Jr. She enjoyed spending most of her free time at their lake house in Cherokee Village, AR. She and her husband were long-term, active members of Kirby Woods Baptist Church. At her passing, she was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. She sincerely loved cooking for her friends and family, taking long walks around her neighborhood, and time on the deck overlooking “the lake” with her husband and Best Friend.
She is predeceased by her husband, “John A” Laycook, Jr, her parents, Tommy and Lora Roten, her three brothers, Hillard Roten, Howard Roten, and John Roten, her two brother-in-laws, James Laycook and Billy Laycook, and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Laycook.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila R Carman, husband, Richard Carman, son, Michael Laycook, four Grandchildren: Lindsey Carman, KayLee Carman, Allie McDaniel, husband, Tyler McDaniel, and Reed Laycook, great Granddaughter: Ella McDaniel, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Baptist Reynolds Hospice House and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
