Marion Hogue's Obituary
Marion Hogue of Collierville, TN passed away September 19th, 2009 at Germantown Methodist Hospital at the age of 96. Marion was born in Humboldt, TN on July 3rd, 1913 and grew up in Memphis, TN.She attended Tech High School, and it was during this time she met Russell V. Hogue. They married in 1929. In 1940 the family moved to the famed corner of Hollywood and Vine St. in Hollywood CA. When WWII broke out they moved to Sonoma, CA to support the war effort. It was here that Marion was employed as the only female crane operator at Mare Island Navy Yard. After moving back to North Hollywood, Marion was employed by Lockheed California Company where she was an overhead crane operator, and she continued working for Lockheed until she retired in 1976 working for the electronics division as Lead Lady. She was active in her community and served as Arroyo Grande Woman’s Club President. In 1979 the couple moved back to Collierville, TN to be near Family. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Russell Hogue Sr. in 1989, and her oldest son Russell Hogue Jr. this year. In addition, she was preceded in death by one brother George Mc Leary, and two sisters Mattie Belle Bridges and Mildred Hackney.She leaves behind one son Ray Hogue of Morro Bay, CA and one daughter Lynda D. Nichols of Cordova, TN. Marion had seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.The viewing will be held at Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 23 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2000 North Germantown Pkwy at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24. A graveside service will follow immediately in Memorial Park Cemetery.
