Marilyn Caldwell Terry's Obituary
Marilyn Caldwell Terry, age 77, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away October 19, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Hernandez of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rebecca Terry Gieselmann (A. Kent Gieselmann, Jr.) of Memphis; granddaughter, Courtney Austin, and grandson, Lorenzo Hernandez, both of Atlanta; granddaughter, Vance Caldwell Gieselmann, grandson, Crews Kent Gieselmann, and granddaughter, Machin Lea Gieselmann, all of Memphis; brothers Jim Caldwell of Atlanta and Tom Caldwell (Debbie Caldwell) of New Braunfels, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Porter Terry and her parents, Eugene Andrew Caldwell and Ouida Crews Caldwell, all of Memphis. Marilyn was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Memphis. Marilyn met Richard, her husband of 55 years, when they were teenagers at Temple Baptist Church in Memphis, and they were married on June 8, 1963. Marilyn graduated from Southside High School where she was voted best dressed, and later from Memphis State University where she received a degree in education. Marilyn taught school for several years before devoting herself to her girls as a full-time mom. Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and sister, and she loved her family well. She loved reading her Bible with a good cup of coffee, spending time with her family and friends on the lake, and loving on her grandchildren. She also cherished her rich and loving friendships. Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN., 38119. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. until her graveside service begins at 3:00 p.m., both at at Memorial Park, with the interment to follow.
