Marie Haiti Ivey's Obituary
Marie Haiti Ivey, 95, of Cordova passed away April 24 at Methodist Hospice Residence at 2:50 AM. Marie was born in Newbern, Tennessee. Her parents were Leslie Rueben Richardson and Lily Otis Evans Richardson.Marie was the beloved wife of A.C. Ivey, USMC Retired, a decorated veteran of WW II and Korea. These two wars separated them only by time and space but never by love. Marie was devoted to AC as he was devoted to her. A.C. and Marie were married for 64 years.Marie was a homemaker, military wife, and joined her husband in church and family activities, She was active in the Cordova Church of Christ where she served as preschool teacher for many years as well as a “marriage encourager” for many couples. Marie loved gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Her home was always open and emotionally warm for all who entered.Visitation will be held at the Cordova Church of Christ from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. The internment service will be held at the Memphis Funeral Home and Gardens located at 3700 North Germantown Parkway in Bartlett following the memorial service.Marie is survived by her children, Sharon Miller of Henderson, Bill Ivey of Cordova and her brother, Joe Richardson of Newbern; five grandchildren and eleven great grand children. Edith Dunn loved and served her well as her Caregiver for over 5 years. Memorial donations may be made to Harding Academy or the Methodist Hospice Residence.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
