Marian Milner Jernigan's Obituary
Marian Milner Jernigan, after recent health challenges, went home to the Lord on February 15, 2022. She was born on June 27, 1932 in Newbern, TN to John Edward and Bertha Mann Milner. Her husband of 58 years Gene Jernigan also preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Cothran (Jac) of Brentwood, TN; two sons, Dick Jernigan (Marty) of Nesbit, MS and Mark Jernigan of Memphis. She also leaves granddaughter Anna Cothran, grandson Jeff Martin (Tammy), and great-grandchildren Megan Martin Robinson (Jimmy), Ashlynn and Avery Robinson, and Alexis, Caitlyn, and Bailey Ryder; one sister-in-law Polly Neal and a host of nieces and nephews. Marian was a member of Colonial Baptist Church and the TOPS organization with both groups filled with loving Christian friends who surrounded her with care and support especially throughout the past year. She loved playing bridge throughout her life and had a wonderfully competitive though modest nature. A special thank you from her family to so many cherished friends including caring neighbor Ruby Stephens whose friendship meant so much. Due to COVID the family will not hold a funeral service but asks for your prayers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Marian be sent to Colonial Baptist Church, 2503 Colonial Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
