Marian Blumenfeld's Obituary
Marian “Sunny” Blumenfeld, 78, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015. Sunny was born in Eupora, Mississippi to Paul and Marian Bingham. She graduated from Eupora High School and then attended Holms Junior College where she received one of the first scholarships given to women for basketball. She was known as a fierce competitor, which carried on to the tennis court in the many years to follow. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, Dr. Harry Blumenfeld. Sunny is survived by her children, Paula Gary Holt, Lynn Blumenfeld Schaefer (Dudley), Mark Blumenfeld (Natasha), and Gwen Blumenfeld Beard (Chris). She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Michael (Rachael), Caroline, and Matthew Schaefer; Devin and Danielle Blumenfeld; and Jack and Alex Beard. Services will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church where she was a member for over 40 years. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to St. George’s Episcopal Church, MIFA, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall”
