Maria Mollinedo's Obituary
Maria Petrona Mollinedo, 90, passed away at Kirby Pines Manor on April 26, 2015. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Manuel Lion and Ramona Mollinedo. During her earlier years, she served on the staff at the American Embassy in Guatemala City, and then moved to the U.S. in 1956. Maria lived in Chicago for over 40 years as a loving, helpful, companion for DR. W.O. Fellman and his Marjorie, both preceding in her death. Dr. Fellman’s granddaughters, Peg Fleming and Joanne Fleming, assisted Maria 15 years ago in relocating to Kirby Pines Estates in Memphis. She has shared many holidays and special occasions with their families here, and has felt a close bond with them. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Maria enjoyed world travel and collecting coins, stamps and interesting souvenirs from many foreign countries. She often expressed her pride in becoming an American citizen in 1956, and she gathered volumes of American historical keepsakes. The family wishes to express sincere Thanks to the dedicated staff at Kirby Pines and to those with Crossroads Hospice who cared for her. A memorial service will be held in the Kirby Pines Chapel on Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
