Marguerite Gentry's Obituary
Joined our Lord after passing peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, December 20, 2014. Born March 20, 1925, in Campbell, Missouri. She was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church for over 50 years.She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Gentry, her daughter Sharon Gentry Gray, and her son-in-law Milford Ray Gray. She is survived by her son, Carl Gentry (Nancy); her sister, Vivian Ruth Blackburn of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; grandchildren, Jamie Byrd, Whitney Gray, Melissa Kinard, Heather Gray, Donald Robertson, and Melissa Mann; great grandchildren, Haylee Kinard, Ashley Robertson, Dalton Mann, Brooke Mann, Tyler Robertson, Emma Puckett, Shelby Byrd, Jackson Byrd, and Kathryn Robertson and nephews, Chuck Blackburn and David Blackburn each of whom were loved dearly.Marguerite always put other people’s needs, interests, or wishes before her own. She was a daily example of unconditional love for others.She leaves a long legacy of kindness to others. She created an environment in her home that was always welcoming to everyone who visited. She had a special gift of making children always feel welcome. The Bible says it best “…the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to GOD” 1 Peter 2:4“Love never fails” 1st Corinthians 13:8 She has always been grateful to the membership of Bartlett Baptist Church, and the church staff. Dr. Michael Priest, Ron Hammond, and all other church representatives that have always been faithful in visiting her on more occasions than it would be possible to count. Mr. Paul Vander Zwaag of ECS was an invaluable resource to her and his visits were invaluable. Dr. Bill Regel of the Bartlett Prescription Shop was such a blessing to her. A blessing that included personal delivery of much needed medication. A special thank you is warranted in appreciation to Dr’s James E. Boone & Joseph K. Samaha who had a significant impact on the quality of her life in latter years, and Baptist Trinity Hospice staff. Since she was a beacon of light and beauty in her community, flowers would be welcomed.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 1:30 p.m., with the service immediately following at 2:30 p.m. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
