Marguerite Chipman's Obituary
Funeral services for Gladys Marguerite Chipman, 86, of Millington, Tennessee are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at The First Baptist Church of Millington, Tennessee with the Rev. Ray Newcomb officiating under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Thursday evening visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the 5668 Poplar Avenue location of the Funeral Home. Friday morning visitation will be at 10 a.m. at The First Baptist Church in Millington. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens. Mrs. Chipman died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas. She was born October 16, 1925 in Halls, Tennessee to the late Leland Taylor and Gladys Knox Marchbanks. She was a life long Baptist and a member of The First Baptist Church in Millington, Tennessee. She was involved with The Eastern Star serving as its Worthy Matron in 1978. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a member of the Co-Workers Class. Marguerite loved quilting and her many friends in the Millington Piecemakers Quilting Guild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chipman was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James William Chipman. Mrs. Chipman is survived by her sisters Martha Ford and Dorothy Harber and her brothers David, Raymond, Bob and Jimmy Marchbanks. She is also survived by her daughter Charlotte Speck of Memphis, Tennessee and her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Tom Seale of Tyler, Texas, along with four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
