Margie Delia Humphrey's Obituary
Margie Delia Humphrey, age 90, transitioned from the hand of her oldest granddaughter to the arms of Jesus on April 14th, 2020. She was born 10/27/1929 in Crockett county Tennessee to Curtis and Hazel Montgomery. She was the youngest of three girls and loved her sisters, Evelyn Breneman and Reba Peel, deeply. A member of Andrews United Methodist, she was proud of her faith. She married RL Humphrey in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2009. Her youngest son, Gary, preceded her in death in 2001.
Margie is survived by her sons, Curtis and Jimmy; daughter-in-law and caregiver Cathy, best friend and caregiver, Joy, grandchildren Lisa (Dave), Catrina (Bobby), Curtis (Leigh); great grandchildren Dave(Amanda), Preston, Austin, Ava, Reese, Alayna, Kayla, Curtis, and Samantha; and great great grandchild Ella.
Margie was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A daughter of a farmer and mother of three boys, she wasn't afraid of getting dirty! She loved the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, baseball, and roller coasters. Though she was a wonderful home maker, her primary job was keeping her three boys out of trouble. Needless to say, she put in a lot of overtime! She relished telling her grandchildren stories about her mischievous sons, playing basketball at South Side High School in Memphis, being a top seller of Avon even though she was doing it for fun, sharing her love of all things Elvis and how she grew up in a one room house picking cotton. After moving to Florida in 1998, she spent her time attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and, most recently, her great grandchildren. One never to let her age get in the way, she enjoyed showing her adult grandchildren how to party. She spent her last years enjoying the sunsets on the St. John's River, watching her great grandchildren swim and snuggling with them daily.
Memorial will be announced and scheduled for a later date.
