Marge McGinley's Obituary
Margaret Mary Oates McGinley (1931 – 2016)Margaret McGinley, 84, died in Germantown on May 11, 2016 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, with interment to follow at Memorial Park.Born in New York City, she moved to Germantown in 1974. Marge (Rita to her family) graduated from Mother Cabrini High School (New York) and attended Adelphi University and the University of Memphis. She was a retired real estate agent. Marge was active in the Poplar Estates Garden Club, the Designing Women Club and was a former president of the Poplar Estates Homeowners Association. She enjoyed traveling, museums, crossword puzzles and conversation. For many years, she served in Holy Spirit’s Ministry to the Sick, most frequently at Kirby Pines.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McGinley, her parents, Michael and Margaret Oates, and sister, Irene Oates. She is survived by her children, Eileen McGinley, Jeanne Moulton and Thomas McGinley, brother John (Jack) Oates, grandchildren Michael and Caroline Moulton and Ryan and Haley McGinley, her son-in-law, Brian Moulton and daughter-in-law, Anita McGinley, sister-in-law Margaret Oates, step-granddaughters Lindsey and Kelley Little, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and her beloved grand dogs.The family requests that donations be made in Marge McGinley’s honor to the American Cancer Society Memphis or the Church of the Holy Spirit.
