Margaret Ellen Tilley's Obituary
Margaret E. Tilley, 89, was called to her Eternal resting place on October 20, 2011. She was born December 6, 1921 in Hoxie, Arkansas. Margaret graduated from New Albany High School, New Albany, MS and also attended Memphis State University. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Memphis, TN and retired from the Pharmacy Department at Baptist Hospital. Miss Tilley was a devout Catholic, a member of Immaculate Conception Parrish and a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Miss Tilley was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Barrie Johnson Tilley, her father, Mr. John L. Tilley and her step-mother Mrs. Polly Tilley. While Margaret never had children of her own, she was instrumental in raising her great-nieces, Wanda Robinson Buchmiller, Rhonda Ballard Stanford, and Donna Whittemore Krapcha, all residing now in Albuquerque, NM. She also has a great-great niece, Penny Bakke also living in Albuquerque, whom she adored. Miss Tilley was very blessed to have a life-long friend and companion of 60 years, Mr. George Smith, of Memphis, TN. Miss Tilley had been a resident of St. Peter Nursing Villa since 2008. The family would like to express kindest regards to all the Staff for their loving and compassionate care. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Peter’s Villa Chapel Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the New Albany Cemetery, in New Albany, MS Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1 p.m.
