Margaret Page Sousoulas' Obituary
Margaret Page Sousoulas, 91, of Memphis, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, of natural causes with her family by her side.
Born January 1, 1935, in Harriman, she was the daughter of William Lee Bramblett of Carter’s, Georgia, and Maggie Nola Edwards of Roane County, Tennessee.
Margaret graduated from Harriman High School in 1953, where she excelled as both a leader and student-athlete. She received the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award and was a Girls State Basketball Champion in 1952.
She went on to attend the University of Tennessee Nursing School in Memphis from 1953 to 1957 and served as class president during her senior year. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduation, she began her career as a flight nurse with Liberty Mutual in Atlanta, providing compassionate and skilled care in critical situations.
In 1976, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Psychiatry/Mental Health from the University of Memphis, further strengthening her lifelong commitment to mental health care.
As a clinical mental health specialist, Margaret worked at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and Baptist Memorial Healthcare before completing her distinguished career at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. She was instrumental in developing and opening the Women’s Medical Center and led the Women’s Victims Program, providing vital advocacy and care for women in need. She retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 2010.
Margaret also devoted much of her life to public service and advocacy. She served on the board of the American Cancer Society and the Lupus Society and was a member of the American Red Cross Consortium on AIDS, the American Heart Association Nursing Committee, the Mental Health Association Speakers Bureau, the Living Today Cancer Support Group, and the Women Veterans Advisory Committee.
Her dedication and excellence were widely recognized. She received honors from the American Nurses Association “Celebrate Nursing” program, Memphis Mental Health organizations, and Women’s News of the Mid-South for excellence and distinction.
Margaret lived a long and meaningful life defined by service, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank George Sousoulas and Dr. Roy Calvin Page.
She is survived by her children, Bradford Roy Page and his wife, Anca; Lisa Page May and her husband, Keith; and Mark A. Page and his wife, Audrey. She is also survived by her stepson, Frank Sousoulas Jr. and his wife, Amy.
She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Margaret will be remembered for her intelligence, strength, compassion, and lifelong commitment to healing and service. Her legacy lives on through her family, her patients, and the countless lives she touched throughout her extraordinary life and career.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m.
