Margaret Madison "Maddie" Selden's Obituary
Margaret Madison “Maddie” Selden, our beautiful daughter, sister and friend, died unexpectedly on July 4th, 2021 at the young age of 23. She was a truly special girl who had many friends, was obsessed with plants, loved rocks and crystals, and her many collections and hobbies. She was active in many groups, was a member of the honor counsel, was prom queen and graduated in the top of her class.
Maddie is survived by her parents; her mother, Cathi Selden and father, Clai Selden; her siblings: Mallory, Clai, and Dane Selden, Abby Jane Lowrimore; her adored dog: Mango (the fruit man). She left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic school in Germantown, TN where she developed lifelong friends and went on to Saint Benedict at Auburndale. She graduated with honors and was surrounded by the love of all her peers.
Maddie was born in Longwood, Florida on October 21, 1997 to Cathi and Clai Selden. She graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2020 with a bachelor of arts in Psychology.
From the moment she was born, Maddie was a peaceful soul. She had a compassionate heart and a huge personality in a tiny package. “Though she be but little, she is fierce” - William Shakespeare. She had a sense of justice and balance that influenced those around her.
Not only did she collect little things, she collected hearts. Those hearts are the gift she has left her family and for that we are forever grateful. Those souls are our family. A true reflection of light and love.
Maddie would not want you to be sad. She would want every single person to think of all things happy, silly, and bright. Live your life like Margaret Madison Selden today – in the moment, appreciating all things beautiful and filled with joy.
Maddie’s is in heaven where everyone will understand that colors, numbers, and shapes have personalities, states, months and times have colors and significance; and if you knew Maddie, you understand. Everything is brighter because Maddie was Maddie – able to transcend through life and death.
Maddie will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
