Margaret (Peggy) Bovinette McAneney's Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) Bovinette McAneney, 86, passed away December 7, 2023.
She was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Preceded in death by mother, Mary Tims, father, F.W. Bovinette, grandson, Jason Varner and beloved cat, Kitty.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard “Mac” McAveney of 61 years and care giver for health issues in recent years. Brother, Philip “Mike” Bovinette of Hilliard, FL, daughters, Linda McAveney of Homestead, FL, Janet Nations of Oakland, TN and son, Larry Gilpin of Southaven, MS. Granddaughter, Ashley McCarty (Corey) of Oakland, TN. Great granddaughters, Finley Cubern of Memphis,TN, Kayleigh McCarty and great grandsons, Dylan McCarty, (twins) Jo-Jo and Eli McCarty of Oakland, TN.
She was a true Tennessee Volunteer. She started volunteering in her teens. She was a member of Friends of the Orpheum for over 20 years and their volunteer of the year (1994). She was also membership chairman and assistant treasurer. You could see her all over Memphis volunteering for many other venues and was neighborhood watch captain. She was active in her children’s schools and activities. She bowled in St. Michael’s league team and won a trophy.
Peggy will be missed by many. She loved meeting people and volunteering.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. all in the Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment Memorial Park.
