Margaret D. McCann's Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth Daves McCann, 93, of Bartlett, TN went to be with our Lord and Savior July 16, 2011. She was born May 28, 1918 to Gene and Blanche Daves in City Point, Virginia. Margaret moved to Memphis with her family when she was a toddler. Margaret was a graduate of Humes High School and retired as Civilian Chief of the Transportation Division at the Mallory Air Force depot in Memphis, and a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church. She was one of the few civilian women in the nation to head up a major division on an Air Force Base. At the time she was the only woman to hold the title as Traffic Manager in the United States. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Sanners McCann and brothers, Howard Daves and Carroll Daves. Margaret had no children, but she had three nephews, Gene Daves, Steve Daves, and Howard (Buddy) Daves and two nieces, Lynn Roach and Lisa Schaad that she loved dearly and called her own. In addition Mrs. McCann leaves many great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 19 from 1:00 until service time at 2:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Fireside Chapel in Memphis with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made Bartlett United Methodist Church.
