Margaret Ann Johnson Wilmont's Obituary
Margaret Ann Johnson Wilmot, 81, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 29, 2011 in her home with family at her side after bravely battling cancer, having the comfort of her connection with Christ and blessings from all who loved her and all whose lives she touched with her gracious and giving heart, mind and soul. Margaret had been a fashion copywriter for Levy’s Store for Women in Memphis and became a housewife and joyfully enjoyed raising four children and became an enamelist and sumi watercolorist and Ikebana flower enthusiast. She was the co-owner of Wilmot Originals Studio Gallery on Broad Ave. in Memphis. She pursued personal study of art, history and all religions and philosophy. She had been a member of First Baptist Church, the First Unitarian Church of the River, the Liberal Catholic Church, Past Secretary of Theosophical Society of Memphis, and was a Swedenborgian Christian. She lived in the closeness of God through a quiet Zen-Like contemplative life which sustained during her life’s difficulties. She valued the creative spirit and kindness toward all humanity and living things. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Adams Wilmot, Jr. and her son Herbert Adams Wilmot, III, her brother Charles Wesley Johnson (Penny). She leaves her son Timothy Wesley Wilmot (Susan) of Miami, FL, two daughters Leigh Ann Wilmot of Memphis, and Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Wilmot of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves her grandchildren Christy Davis (Josh) of Dickson, TN, and Mary Wilmot of Knoxville, TN, two sisters Betty Sue Dunn of Germantown, and Jeanne Nowlin of Cordova, TN, nieces Susan Rowan (Bob) of Germantown, TN, and Linda Fanning (John) of Ohio and Robert Nowlin of Memphis, four nephews Chris, Eric, Kirt, and Tyler Johnson of California, and her friend and companion Robert Mike Bourke of Memphis. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. A graveside service will be Saturday, November 5 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
