Margaret Altman Hurley's Obituary
Margaret Altman Hurley, 100, passed away on October 31, 2010 at Trezevant Manor in Memphis, TN. Margaret was born in Sherman, Texas to William Henry and Emmie Altman, who preceded her in death. Margaret’s 100 years were filled with love from so many people and she gave it back to all. She lived a long and healthy life filled with laughs, funny sayings, and happy stories of her childhood. Margaret was a graduate of SMU where she majored in Spanish and minored in music. She was also a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of the Cotton Wives Club and the Glass Club of Memphis. Margaret was a long-time member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis D. Hurley. She was also preceded by her parents; her sisters, Roxie Lauderdale, Louise Ward, Emetta Strickland; and her brother, Earl Altman. She is survived by her brother, Dr. William A. Altman of Dallas, TX; nieces, Ann Ohmstede of Austin, TX; and Honey Minshew of Sherman, TX; nephews, Bob Lauderdale of Richardson, TX and Bill Altman of Dallas, TX; as well as many other nieces and nephews. Many thanks to her caregivers at Trezevant Manor and her dear friends who have brought her such joy for so many years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at Trezevant Manor. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be sent to the charity of your choice.
