Margaret Horn's Obituary
Margaret Horn, widow of Don Horn, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Germantown Methodist Hospital. She was 93.Mrs. Horn was born July 8, 1925, in Wyaconda, Mo., to Ernest and Marye White Robertson. She married Don Horn in St. Louis in 1945, and they soon moved to Memphis and established themselves in the wholesale aircraft parts business. The couple had no children, and Don Horn died in 2001.Always active in The Don Horn Co., Mrs. Horn was also instrumental in establishing several other successful businesses. She served on the original Committee for the Preservation of the Penal Farm for Public Use and the Memphis and Shelby County Economic Development Commission.A member of the Sports Car Club of America, she held a competitive license for road racing and was involved in local racing and rallies.Mrs. Horn loved horses from an early age and owned several well-known hunters and jumpers. She also bred and raced thoroughbreds.The Horns kept a home in California in later years, and she was twice chairwoman of the Fine Arts Auxillary of the Assistance League of Southern California and was active in the Assistance League of Pomona Valley.Survivors include three Robertson nephews and their families, to whom she was devoted, and several other nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Rhodes Robertson and James Ball Robertson, and a nephew, William Rhodes Robertson.The family will hold a celebration of her life later.
