Marcia Taylor's Obituary
Marcia Ellen Taylor passed away peacefully on November 14, 2019 in Memphis, Tennessee.Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, TN on Thursday November 21st, 2019. Visitation will start at 5:00pm and Service at 6:00pm.Marcia was born on May 7, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois to Bryce Palmer Taylor and Lottie Mae (Harmeson) Taylor. Marcia was the first in her family to attend university. An excellent student, she graduated from LeRoy High School, Leroy, IL and earned a scholarship to Illinois State University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and her Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from Memphis State University. She had a lifelong interest in art, archeology, Native American culture, and science fiction. Marcia enjoyed weaving, painting, and making pottery, winning many awards for her artwork over the years. After retiring from the University of Memphis, she worked with the Friends of Chucalissa to support the CH Nash Chucalissa Indian Museum.Marcia is survived by daughter Juliann (Mitchel) Waits, son Jerry (Michelle) Gnuschke, sister Mischele (Lloyd) Kirby, Brother Matt Farley (Judy) Kuhn, grandchildren Jonathan Sides, Jesse Waits, Casey (Will) Jenkins, Samuel Gnuschke, and Jackson Gnuschke, great-granddaughter Jillian Jenkins, sister-in-law Janet Biven, brother-in-law David (Debbie) Gnuschke, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
