Mamie Sue Noble's Obituary
The elegant and loving Mamie Sue Noble, 84, of Memphis, TN, died peacefully at home on April 20, 2026, surrounded by family after her battle with cancer. She and her twin sister, Betty Lou, were born on August 1, 1941, in a little farmhouse in the country town of Crowder, MS. As a child, she and her twin sister enjoyed dressing exactly alike and would delight in confusing their teachers and friends! She graduated from Crowder High School in 1959, then moved to Memphis to pursue a career in accounting.
She worked as an accountant at Frazee, Thomas, and Tate for over 20 years. Mamie had an amazing passion for playing golf and loved to travel! She enjoyed playing card games and going out to eat with friends and family. She loved to water ski, but couldn’t swim! Sitting outside on her patio was one of her favorite spots in recent years, and she loved reading her Bible and talking to Jesus by their lake.
She adored spending time being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all of the generations she influenced with her kindness and compassion. She was an amazing friend to everyone who knew her and was full of sass, wit, joy, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herkley Doyal Wells and Lillie Mae Walls Wells; siblings O’Neil Wells, Jack Wells, Dorothy Wells Hickman, Shelvie Jean Wells, Roy Wells; step-son Rembrandt Noble.
She is survived by her husband Rem Noble; son Billy Horton (Kathy), step-son Steve Noble (Linda); twin sister Betty Antwine, brother Jimmy Wells; first husband Danny Horton; grandchildren Whitney (Jeffrey), Daniel, Tanner (Erica), Nicholas (Whitney), Matthew, Macy (Chris), and Reed (Erin); great-grandchildren Raelyn (6) Josephine (3), Santana (10), Gianni (6), Elaina (5), Luke (3), Remy (7), and Avery (5).
