Malcolm J Flake's Obituary
Malcolm J. “Mackey” Flake, Jr., of Memphis passed away September 17, 2016. Mackey graduated from Treadwell High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a National Defense Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Bronze Star. Mackey graduated from Moler Barber College in 1975 and owned and operated Hair Phase Five in Corinth, MS and Details Hair Salon in Atlanta, GA. He was president of North Mississippi Professional Barbers Association from 1977 – 1979 and awarded an Outstanding Service Award at MPBA Northern Convention. Mackey also worked for many years with his father, Malcolm Flake Sr., in the Hotel industry. He enjoyed fishing, his pet parakeets; his aquariums; dogs; spending time with family; his favorite T.V. show “The Big Bang Theory” and caring for his father in his later years. He leaves behind his loving sister, Peggy Russell; niece, Tasha Caldwell (Chris); great nieces, Rachel, Anna, Rebekah Caldwell. He also leaves his step father, LaRue Hart; step brother, Michael Hart; step sister, Nancy Renee Robinson. Mackey was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm J. Flake, Sr. and Evelyn Flake Hart and his sister, Patricia McDonald. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 11 am in Memorial Park Cemetery at the Crystal Shrine Grotto. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at www.DAV.org “Celebrating Life Behind the Stone Wall”.
