Breakfast with my godmother in 2017 ♥️
Madaline was a member of the Crochet Class at the Lucille McWherter Senior Center when we met. I had only attended a few times when she walked into the room and handed me a scarf she had made, I still have it. That was so kind of her. In recent years, we would would run into each other at various stores around the neighborhood. She was such a nice person, and I am sorry to read of her passing.

My dearest Madaline- Oh, how my kids and I will miss you! Tammy Johnson
When I lived in Memphis, I had the pleasure of living across the street from Madaline. Although my time in that house was brief, I had believed it would be my forever home. Madaline was the first to welcome us into the neighborhood, and we quickly became close friends. She had a way of understanding me that felt effortless—there was an unspoken connection between us.
Madaline shared a birthday with my father, June 13th, and she met my parents many times at our home. They bonded so naturally, as if they had known each other their entire lives. Despite having six children of her own and numerous grandchildren, many of her kids lived out of state. She treated my children as if they were her own, and other neighbors often shared similar sentiments about how special she was.
We shared many wonderful moments with Madaline. Whether inviting her over for dinner or heading out to her favorite spot, Memphis Pizza Cafe, she always brought joy to our gatherings. She had a passion for photography and took pictures of us moving in, as well as moving out—a reflection of how much she cherished memories.
Madaline loved bowling and her church, and her faith and hobbies were a big part of her life. Even after we moved, I’d call her for a chat, and every time we visited Memphis, we made it a point to stop by and see her.
The last photos I have of Madaline were from last year, and I’ll be posting them soon. She brought such joy to my life, and I’ll always treasure the memories we shared.
I knew Mrs. Jankowski through her daughter Andrea. She was such a sweetheart and the Jankowski home was always a welcoming place. My condolences to her children and grandchildren and to everyone whose heart she touched. She made the most of her time on earth. - Oliver Hinson
