Mabel V. Thornton, 97, passed away May 25, 2017. She was born June 28, 1919 in Prairie, MS to Ethel Eva Cain and Houston G. Vaughn. She was the owner of Thornton’s Donuts.She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest L. Thornton, Sr. and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Forest Thornton, Jr., Kenneth Thornton (Linda), and Paul Thornton (Cindy); grandchildren, Matthew, Susan, Nathan, and Jeremy; and six great-grandchildren.Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 28 at the Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery.The services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life….Behind the Stone Wall.”
