Mabel Rutherford's Obituary
MABEL S. RUTHERFORD, 94, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital on November 16, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Melvern R. Rutherford. She is survived by her two sons, Gary M. Rutherford (Martha) and Glenn A. Rutherford (Charlotte), both of Germantown, TN, four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The family thanks her devoted caregivers, Helen Cooper, Rendal Fayne, Martha Lewis, Peggy Phipps and Susan Sigler for the meticulous loving care given her. Her Christian principles, infectious smile, quick wit and young in heart personality made her a joy to all who knew her. She enjoyed music and golf throughout her life and found great pleasure in serving her family and others. In her earlier years she was active in Whitehaven United Methodist Church, Whitehaven Woman’s Club and Whitehaven Country Club. At the time of her death she was a member of King’s Daughters and Sons and Memphis Central Rotary Club of which she was a Paul Harris Fellow. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 23rd, at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The family requests any memorials be made to the churches she attended with her sons and daughters-in-law, Germantown United Methodist Church or Faith Presbyterian Church or charity of donor’s choice.
