M. L. "Jack" Wilson's Obituary
M. L. “Jack” Wilson, passed away May 13, 2015. He was born August 9, 1942 in Memphis, TN to Doris and M. E. “Jack” Wilson. He graduated from Humes High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he pitched the first televised baseball game on the B.B.C. He was a member of Germantown Baptist Church and a strong and devoted Christian. For many years, he was a beloved greeter at Bellevue Baptist Church, affectionately known as the “Candy Man,” where he impacted the lives of the many adults and children who knew him. He was a dedicated prayer warrior. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol Wilson; four daughters, Sherry Yelvington (Phil), Angie Bell (Steve), Cindy Wilson, and Sandy Weeks; five grandchildren, Jessica, Austin (Kelsey), Paul, Holly, and Zachary; and soon-to-be great-grandson, Bentley. He was a loving and adoring husband, wonderful father, great uncle, and awesome “Pop.” Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 15 and funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
