Lynn Allan Leatherwood's Obituary
Lynn Allan Leatherwood, 71, of Olive Branch, MS passed away on October 19, 2021. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday October 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Lynn was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 8,1949 to the late Hubert “Bland” and Grace (Roper) Leatherwood. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1975 with his Masters of Science in Physics. He worked as a nuclear analyst for many years at Gulf States Utilities in St. Francisville, Louisiana, then General Electric in Wilmington, North Carolina. He had a passion for teaching and tutoring math for all ages. He loved astronomy, going to the beach, playing and watching golf, and listening to music while enjoying the sunset over the lake behind his house. He adored spending time with his many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and any other members of his extensive family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters - Elaine (Leatherwood) Reiners, Celia (Leatherwood) Langston, Bonnie Leatherwood, Lydia “Janie” Leatherwood, and brothers Hubert “Buddy” Leatherwood and Gerald “Boo” Leatherwood.
He is survived by his wife Amanda (Wade) Leatherwood, his children - Laura (Leatherwood) Witt and her husband Bryant, Lawrence “Larry” Leatherwood, Raymond “Blan” Leatherwood and his wife Erika, his grandchildren Finnley Leatherwood, Jason “Jay” and Carter Witt; his brother Larry Gene Leatherwood and his wife Jerrie, sisters Anna “Ann” (Leatherwood) Baker, Margaret (Leatherwood) Morton and her husband Don, a host of close friends, and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in memorial park cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude children's research
Hospital.
