Lydia White's Obituary
Lydia Mae Clayton White, 88, of Germantown, TN died at Methodist Hospice Residence. Mrs. White was born near Decatur, Alabama in 1924 and came to Memphis with her parents Cooper and Bernice Morrow Clayton prior to starting to school. She graduated from Memphis Tech High in 1942 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Mrs. White worked as a secretary and during World War II she worked at Oak Ridge, TN in production at Y12. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. Mrs. White enjoyed oil painting and was an avid genealogist. She loved to travel and made numerous trips to England, Ireland, Scotland and other parts of Europe. Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Richard C. White of 65 years in September; two sons, Henry M. White and Patrick Lee White; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; and was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 14 and the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 15, 2012 all at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the interment to follow at ElmwoodCemetery.
