Lura Richardson's Obituary
Lura Annice Richardson, 102, passed away March 12, 2012 at Senatobia Convalescent Center. Mrs. Richardson was a native Texan. She was stationed in Memphis during World War II and discharged in 1945 as a Corporal in the Army Air Corp. She was a Girl Scout executive for the national office and the local Tennessee-Arkansas-Mississippi Girl Scout Council. She received the “Thanks Badge” the highest award presented by the Girl Scouts organization. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church for more than 40 years, serving in many capacities such as president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Deaconess and was awarded Life Deaconess in 1989. Mrs. Richardson was precede in death by her husband, Glenn Richardson and grandson, Gary Glynn Smith and is survived by her son, Gary Smith (Suzanne); granddaughter, Dixie Lomax (Terry); great grandson, Robert Glynn Smith (Kelly); and great-great grandchildren, Robert, Jr. and Aubrey Smith. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Memorial Park Mausoleum Rotunda.
