Lula Mae Thompson's Obituary
Lula was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked in the library and helped sew blankets for newborns at various hospitals in Memphis. She was a graduate of Messick High School, Memphis State and a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught in the Memphis City Schools for over 36 years, at Wells Station and Hollywood Elementary. She was an avid Memphis State basketball and football fan.Lula is survived by her husband of 57 years, Knox Thompson, Jr.; her son, Dr. Robert Thompson, III and his wife Roxanne of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Kay Gurley and her husband Gary of Austin, TX; sister, Imogene Carter of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Alexandra Thompson, Adam Gurley, Jessica Gurley and one great-grandson, Jacob McDaniel.
