Lucy Walker's Obituary
Lucy Stacy Walker of Collierville, TN was born August 4,1929, in Cleveland Mississippi to Richard Stacy and Lou Zella Brewer Stacy. It was God’s plan (and we are sure she tweaked it) that she passed away Friday July 5, 2024. She loved her family, her church - First Baptist Fisherville - her dog Casey, and her friends. LuLu, as her grands called her, had a sharp mind and a hilarious sense of humor. She naturally made friends wherever she went. Unprompted honesty was her trademark. Yet, even when delivering frank feedback, her smile could light up a room.
For the last 6 years, she was a resident of the Memphis Jewish Home, where she was treated like a queen and wore her crown high. She was provided excellent care and loved all those who cared for her. She was a great cook and was known for her Chicken and Spaghetti, Carmel Cake, Divinity, and Chocolate Pie. Growing up in the depression, she saved cool whip bowls, wanted us to wash the paper plates and cups, and at Christmas did not throw away a bow or a piece of wrapping paper. She was an avid “garage saler” and loved finding the deals. She enjoyed going to the casino to play the quarter machines. She said this was her going out to eat or going to the movie money. On her final day, which was unexpected, we told her to get well so we could take her to the casino, thinking that always cheered her up. However, on this day, she said “No, I am going to heaven.” She told her daughter Diann to “look after her brothers and for her brothers to look after her” blew kisses to those there, thanked God for giving her good children, raised her hands several times in the air (which she had not been able to do for years) and went to sleep. She passed a short time later. What a blessing God gave us, in that she did not suffer and it provided such a peace about her final destination, joining her sons Jerry and Ricky in heaven.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Diann Sanderson, Randy Walker (Lisa), Scott Walker (Tracy), her daughters-in-love Teresa Walker, and Sharon Walker. She leaves 11 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother Tommy Stacy (Janis), her sisters Jo McArthur, Sue Balducci, Judy Mosley, and Patsy Cobb (Danny), William “Buddy” Briggs, who was like a son to her, her good friends Mike and Jamie Butler, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivy, her sons Jerry and Ricky, 5 sisters - Inez, Verdie, Leona, Earline, Lena, and 2 brothers William and Bobby.
Visitation will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 13, 2024, at First Baptist Fisherville, 11893 Macon Road, Eads TN with service to follow at 11 AM. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Fisherville.
