Lucy K. Taylor's Obituary
Services for Lucy Kathryn Mosley Taylor, 93, who died May 22, 2021, will be held on Friday, May 28. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The burial will immediately follow. Al Johnson will be presiding.
She was born April 13, 1928 in Itawamba County, Mississippi, the daughter of Grover C Mosley and Lucretia Gray Mosley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands: James Wesson Darnell, Julian Summers and Willie P Taylor; four sisters: Lyda Mae Thaxton of Memphis; Annie Lou Cayson of Lakeland TN; Mary Bess Palmer of Fulton, MS; and Jean Frank of Madison Heights, MI,; two brothers: Sterling Mosley of Cordova and William Mosley of Scuba, MS.
Survivors include daughter Deborah and Al Johnson of Natchez, MS; and daughter Jayme and husband Lee Grant of Bartlett, TN; eight grandchildren: Forrest Johnson (Julie) of Natchez; Chad Johnson (Amy) of Brookhaven, MS; Col Jay Johnson (Amanda) of Madison, MS; Katie McCabe (Henry) of Natchez, MS; Andrew Johnson (Jodi) of Woodville, MS; Spc Alex Johnson of Fort Eustis VA; Jackson Grant of Bartlett; Taylor Grant of Alpharetta, GA and 11 great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered by her friends and family for her love of life, never knowing a stranger and a hostess who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed painting, tending her garden, traveling and ballroom dancing for which she won many awards. She was actively involved in her community with the Order of the Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls and as a Charm School Director.
Pallbearers will be Forrest Johnson, Chad Johnson, Col Jay Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Spc.
Alex Johnson and Jack Grant; Honorary pallbearer Henry McCabe.
