Lucy Scott Crawford's Obituary
Lucy Scott Crawford, 96, of Memphis, Tennessee, died Monday, February 17, 2025. Mrs. Crawford was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of Colonial Park Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, wise counselor, avid outdoorswoman and a faithful friend. She lived by the motto, "Do a kindness, do it now; angels know it all somehow. Do a kindness, do it well; angels will the story tell."
Mrs. Crawford was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi, then moved with her family to Pensacola, Florida. She met her husband, W. Frank Crawford, at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. They were married for 59 years as Frank pursued his career as a Memphis attorney and then served as a judge in the Tennessee Court of Appeals until his death in 2008. She considered Frank to be her best friend.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Lucy Scott; her brothers, Roger Scott, Jr. and William Scott; one sister, Dale Scott Harrell; and her oldest son, Scott Crawford. She is survived by three children: W. Frank Crawford, Jr. (Janet), Lucy Harper (Kevin), and Chip Sam Crawford (Kelly). She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Karen Crawford; sister, Nancy Scott; grandchildren, Sam Crawford, Billy Crawford and Will Crawford; great-grandchildren, Vivian Crawford, Claire Crawford and Lucy Crawford; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Carol Luttrell (Wayne) and Emma Yancey (Oddie).
A memorial service will be held at Memphis Memorial Park on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. Memorial gifts may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
