Lucille Gallini's Obituary
Lucille Gallini, 93, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2012 while at home with her family by her side. Lucille was a lifelong Memphis resident, who grew up on a Vegetable Farm with her siblings, Louise Grande (Armond); Florence Gallini (Albert, Deceased); and Joe Bursi, Jr. (Pat). She spent her youth helping her family prepare the produce from their family farm to sell at the Front Street Market. She graduated from Messick High School and met her future husband, Tony before his tour of duty in the European Theatre in World War II, where he earned the rank of “Major” in the U.S. Army. They corresponded frequently while he was overseas and married at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in June 1946. She was a loyal and devoted wife, raising the family, while her husband, Anthony J. Gallini, Sr., served many years as Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Memphis. The couple recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. She leaves two children Pat and Tony Jr. (Susan), three granddaughters, Cindy Reid (Shaun); Tricia Granger (Ben); and Sara Fenton (Cary) and six great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lucille’s life revolved around her family. Her joy was Italian cooking and making sure everyone was well fed and nourished. She liked to sing and listen to Big Band Music and enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show. The family is very grateful for and wants to acknowledge the staff of Methodist Home Healthcare who gently cared for Lucille. Lucille’s constant refrain to her children and family was “Be sweet. Be good.” Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Church of the Holy Spirit with a brief reception afterwards at the Church. Immediately following the reception the entombment will follow in the Rotunda of the Mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Charity or Church of your choice. Memorial Park Funeral Home, “Behind the stone wall”, 901-767-8930.
