Dr. Luby Jones' Obituary
Robert Luby Jones, MD, 88, passed away August 12, 2014. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired Memphis area General Surgeon. Dr. Jones graduated from Georgia Tech University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He continued his education graduating from University of Tennessee Medical School, serving his residency at John Gaston Hospital. Away from his career, he was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt and fish and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. Dr. Jones is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Margaret Angelo Jones; children, Sally Hamilton (Mickey), Martha Foster (Mike), and Clay Jones (Debbie); brother, Clayton Jones (Amelia); grandchildren, Lauren Tipton (Justin), Margaret Meador (Jeremy), Matt Hamilton, Whitney, Chelsea, and Will Jones, Robert (Heather), David, and Paul Foster; great grandchildren, Libby and Hayes Foster and Hudson and Hunter Tipton. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Foster. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
