Lourine Burnett Thomas' Obituary
Lourine Burnett Thomas was born from the marital union of Cap Burnett and Geneva Brown on May 20, 1928, in Cordova, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis Thomas of 53 years; only beloved child Edward Thomas and her 10 siblings Izola Burnett Green, Margaret Burnett Swift, Alberta Burnett Duckett, Geraldine Burnett Morris, Cap Burnett II, Phillip Burnett, Alline Burnett Williams, Florence Upchurch, Oliver Burnett, and Earl Brown.
She was born again as a new creation in Jesus Christ at an early age and was consistently involved in her churches no matter where she lived. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Sunrise Tabernacle Church, Ft. Pierce, FL. She leaves precious memories of her love for the Lord, which was displayed in her character, wisdom, speech, and life. She was fully aware of where her help came from as she called the name of ‘JESUS’ daily throughout her life. The times did not allow her the opportunity to attend school, but education was important to her, so she obtained her GED in 2007, which was celebrated by her entire family. Her love for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins was immeasurable. She was truly the matriarch of the Burnett family and loving cared for all her sibling, and anyone in need.
On Monday, January 2, 2023, Jesus accomplished His will when in His infinite wisdom He decided to call His good and faithful servant to her eternal home. She is survived by her grandchildren Davita Thomas, Derrick Thomas and Rachel Thomas. Her great grandchildren, DaVontez Thomas, DaVion Thomas, Kaylah McFerrin, Donovyn Thomas, Daymon Thomas, Timothy Thomas and her great great granddaughter, Kay’Lanie McQueen. She also leaves a daughter in law, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
