Louise Johnson Peckham's Obituary
Louise Johnson Peckham, 71, went to be with the Lord on May 5, following a short illness.
She was a talented and capable woman, who learned and practiced many creative skills throughout
her years, from needlepoint and knitting to building a playhouse for her nieces and grandchildren.
When she was well, she could not be thwarted by any obstacle, and if she didn’t
know how to do something, she would figure it out.
Louise served as a preschool teacher for many years. She had a true gift for delighting little children and holding their attention in ways most people find impossible. She was known and loved by many Memphis families as “Ms.Weeze” during her many years of teaching at Buntyn Preschool. Most of all, she loved
spending time and laughing with her large close extended family.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey and Claudia Johnson.
She leaves her husband, Steve; her sisters, Alice Apple and Jennifer Chase; her three children, Steven Peckham (Elizabeth), Josh Peckham (Paula), and Emily Newman (Nathan); and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, at 1:00pm, at Independent Presbyterian
Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the following organizations Louise
supported:
Westminster Academy
Tunnel to Towers
Humane Society of Memphis
