Louis T. Lucchesi's Obituary
Louis T. “Louie” Lucchesi, Sr., 92, went peacefully to heaven on June 19, 2015.Louie was born December 1, 1922 in Memphis, TN. He was the ninth of thirteen children born to Italian immigrants, Maria Bisio and Anthony “Tony” Lucchesi. He was preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters and one grandson, Sam “Bubba” Dino, Jr.A lifelong resident of Memphis, Louie was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a member of the US Navy. He owned and operated Liberty Cash in Downtown Memphis, where he was a successful butcher and grocer. Later, he owned and operated Speedy Foods and Lou’s Liquors in Orange Mound. A devout Catholic, he was a founding member and served on the board at Church of the Incarnation in Collierville, TN. He was involved in several organizations and clubs, including, a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, UNICO and Memphis Bocce Club, where he served as president.Louie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bettye Butler Romeo Lucchesi, brother, Michael Anthony Lucchesi, Sr. and four children: Santo Joseph Romeo (Lynn), Ann Romeo Dino (Sam), Louis Tony Jr. (Nancy) and Angelo Jude Sr. (Lee).Louie leaves behind seven grandchildren; Alicia Fitzhugh, Richard “Ricky” Dino, Libby Lucchesi Kilpatrick (Linton), Louis Tony III (Basma), Angelo Jude Jr. (Amanda), Gabrielle Lucchesi Prewitt (Julian), Rachel Lucchesi, two great grand-children; Dr. Adam Fitzhugh (Kayla), Sean Fitzhugh and a host of loving relatives. He was dearly loved and will be missed.Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5-7 PM with the rosary following at 7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Church of the Incarnation in Collierville, TN, burial following at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation at the charity of your choice.
