Lorna Klyce Hilbun's Obituary
LORNA KLYCE HILBUN died October 3, 2014 at Covenant Dove. Mrs. Hilbun was the widow of Laban Baxter Hilbun. Lorna is survived by her two daughters, both of Memphis, Linda Hilbun Crawford and Ginger Hilbun Cook, with husband Ben. Mrs. Hilbun leaves her two grandchildren Christy Lynn Crawford of San Francisco and Joshua Laban Perkins, with wife Cari of Germantown. Lorna leaves two beloved great-grandchildren Gabriel Baxter Perkins and Ethan Survilas Perkins. She will be fondly remembered by friends and family, in particular her “boys, nephew Larry Hilbun and godson Mickey Hazard. Lorna, a devout Chirstian, leaves her Methodist Church friends. Through her lifelong reading about all religions she passed to her family her tolerance and respect for all faiths. Some of her happiest times were discussions with her aunt, a Christian Science reader, and prayers and mediations with her father, architect Thomas Roland Klyce, who redesigned St. Mary’s Catholic Grotto of Lourdes. A former beauty queen and band singer, Lorna taught her love of the Great American Songbook to family and friends. She sang gospel, blues and standards through her final days. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7 at Memorial Park on Poplar Avenue, funeral service to immediately follow.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
