Loretta McCown's Obituary
Loretta H. McCown, 82, of Germantown, passed away September 28, 2012 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McCown, Jr. Mrs. McCown was born in Beckley, West Virginia and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She was married in 1953 in Richmond and then moved with her husband to Little Rock, Arkansas; Indianapolis, Indiana; and finally to Memphis in 1974 where she worked for Burch, Porter and Johnson Law Firm. Mrs. McCown was active in her Christian faith throughout her life. She sang in the choir and had served as a deacon and elder. Most recently, Mrs. McCown was a member at Advent Presbyterian Church in Cordova. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Mrs. McCown leaves her daughter, Sue M. Clark, and her husband, G. Edmond Clark, of Germantown; her son, James E. McCown III and his wife, Lorie H. McCown, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; her sister, Nancy Harris, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and grandchildren, J. Edmond Clark, G. David Clark, Anna M. Clark, Thomas J. McCown, Rachel M. McCown, and Samuel G. McCown. The family will receive friends Monday, October 1 from 4-6 p.m., and services will be Tuesday, October 2 at 10 a.m., all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN. Memorials can be sent to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis.
