Loretta Choate's Obituary
Loretta Mae Choate, born on January 7, 1917, in Jacksonville, Illinois, died peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the home of her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ethel DeFrates, first husband, Clifford Amidei, second husband Don Choate, two sons Jerry & Terry Amidei, a brother Bud DeFrates, her sisters Betty Ketner and Ardeen Thornblad, and two grandchildren Kimberly Wernecke and Glenn Phillips. She is survived by Sharlyn Phillips-Stafford of Collierville, TN, Connie Tuchmann of Springfield, IL, John (Patsy) Amidei of Gainesville,GA, and Michael J (Linda) Amidei of Bellaire, FL; grandchildren Mike (Jan) Tuchman, Fonda (Tom) Di Chiara, Pam Tuchmann, Doug (Stacey) Tuchmann, Michael (Amy) Amidei, Kristin (Tucker) Schenck, J.P. Amidei and Jeff (Carolina) Amidei; 14 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Bill DeFrutes (Betty); and two sisters, Jane Hazelrigg, and Mildred Phalen. Loretta lived in Memphis, TN, from 1957 until 2003 at which time she moved to Springfield, Ill. She resided at Hickory Glan Estate for a short time. She was a member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed ball room dancing, gardening, and playing cards. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2010, with funeral services at 1:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Idlewild Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
