Lorene Moore Jones' Obituary
Lorene “Candy” Moore Jones , 87, passed away on November 11, 2012, after a seven month battle with brain and lung cancer. She was a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife, but more importantly, a Christian. She retired from International Harvester in 1980 after 30 years of service as a switchboard operator and other administrative positions. She was born on February 24, 1925 in Gift, TN, a small farming community outside of Covington. Shortly after marriage on December 24, 1943, she and her husband, William W. “Bill” Jones, Jr. moved to Memphis for employment. In 1970 they built a home in Rosemark, TN on 58 acres of land that she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of over 68 years; one sister, Ann Bogard (Harry); one son, William W. “Trip” Jones III (Barbara): three grandsons, Christopher Scott Jones; William W. “Bill” Jones IV (Jennifer) with two great-grandsons William W. Jones V and Ethan Wayne Nicholson; Matthew Arnold Jones (Kim) with two great-granddaughters, Mallory Lynn Jones and Julie Grace Jones. Lorene was preceded in death by her mother Roberta White Moore and Charles Moses Moore, as well as her sisters, Marie Ellis, Lucille Huggins, Ruby Byars, and brothers Edward Charles Moore, William Sanford Moore, Raymond James Moore, and Troy Moore. Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar will handle all arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13 from 5-7 p.m. and the funeral will be Wednesday, November 14 at 11:30 a.m. with internment to follow.
